As a would be artist, writer, and poetry lover, I have always been fascinated by movements — especially those which influence me. The Beats, especially as a young man, captivated me like few other modernist groups. Their raw take on literature and poetry fascinated me. To this day, I love perusing Ginsberg and Corso, rereading “Naked Lunch” and “On The Road,” and find aspects of them, as well as O’Hara and Snyder. So it was with great pleasure that I got to combine my love of writing about travel and destinations with my enjoyment of the Beats and their generation.

The culmination of my influences lays scattered throughout this article: one part synopsis, one part triptych, and one part cultural analysis. I’m particularly proud of this article, and I hope you enjoy it.
